Casaroro Falls

I came to know about Casaroro Falls because of a fellow Paulinian who died in this place a few years back. Everybody I know told me this place is dangerous perhaps because of the incidents, and the cause of such death are all a mystery. Just like what happened last November 1. You can check into Phioxee's post here. I was at first hesitant to see the place for myself until last Thursday.

Casaroro Falls is situated in Valencia, Negros Oriental. Valencia is 9.4 kilometer away from Dumaguete. You can take a jeepney or rent a motorcycle to reach this municipality. It would only take you 10 to 15 minute drive from Dumaguete without traffic and at a 40 kilometer per hour speed.

This is the mysterious falls behind the a gigantic rock formation.
Casaroro Falls is one of Valencia's pride for tourist destination. Let me show you how to exactly get to the falls.

We have the motorbikes ready.

We did walk. A lot.

Viola! We're here, but where is the falls exactly? Phioxee, Jannette, Tito Albert, and Me.
Entrance fee of P10.

You need to take 334 steps to reach the river.

Might as well take some photos while resting.
From the never ending stair steps, you can hear the gushing flow of the river. It really excite me as well as it brought some chills. I'm actually scared, and for some reasons I found the place a little bit creepy. The rain forest is dense and quite, but I just thought I need to face my fear over a waterfall.

There was previously a bridge created to not have you pass through the rocks to see the falls, but the typhoon Sendong destroyed it, and Pablo made it worse.

Phioxee and Jannette rock climbing.

This is placed at the end of the steel steps, so I got confused why there are death cases in this falls. It is clearly stated not to swim near the waterfall area. They might have missed the sign due to excitement. The person in-charged also told us to be careful and not to get near the falls to much.

The beauty of nature at its best. This nicely done pile of rocks is actually a testimony of someone who has been there. You can create your own pile of rock if you wish to.
This was the old entrance to the falls; an end to the never ending walk before the bridge was destroyed.
My feeling of fear was taken over by excitement and awe. The falls was so mysterious, powerful, and majestic I can say. Hiking, walking, and rock climbing was never my forte, but seeing a beautiful creation like this makes me forget all the suffering. It was worth it! Everything was green and clean.

The Mystic Casaroro Falls.

Casaroro Falls is one of the most photographed body of water in the province. There has also been numerous death cases on this falls, so we can't stay too close. It is being said that the depth of the water underneath the falls is the same as it's height. No expert has measured how deep the water is really.

We stayed there for a couple of minutes just staring at it and really trying to be detectives and asking how did those people died here? The river is shallow, and there is clear water from where we stand. Seeing and hearing the falls like that really makes me frightened. I guess they were braver. We took some shots and then we went home. You don't want to stay too long, it may rain. The weather was never that great. The water would be unpredictable by then.

We created this pile before leaving. I just though we might as well leave a trace.

Blowing off the Dandelions goodbye.

As much as I would love to stay a little longer, stare at the falls, and be drawn by it's own mystery, we really need to go because we are so ready for lunch. I just learned that we really need to be conscious with signs, or pay attention and read while you are on the road. It pays to really follow instructions. I don't want to blame those people who died because there is no point, I just wish they could have read and follow the signs. We need to be extra responsible when traveling- that's my point. It might take a little while for me to be back to this beauty because my muscles ache the day after, and muscle aches are not such my favorite travel hangover. Thank you for keeping up with me. Till our next trip....xoxo!

P.S. I am so excited for my next post for the ICON 2013. I'd keep you guys posted, and Happy Heart's Day!

August rush!

Time flies and it's August already. This month is for me so special and outrageously busy. My entire month's weekends are fully booked!! That is why I can't nod to every getaway plan and other extra task. Not to mention my "daughter-errands"...(sigh!) I don't wanna talk about it. It stresses the whole lot of me. So I'm talking so much....hehe I guess my point is I just wanna ask how are you guys? So what really will I be doing for this entire month?...hmmm Let's see.

I have been hooked with the TV lately. I am a big fan of the Olympics. The history of The Olympic Flame (The light of spirit, knowledge, and life.) gives me goossies...hehe
I have Maroon 5's Payphone on my play list, and I have been listening to it over and over again!! Oh my I think I need to stop it. It's just so addicting...:)

My post would also be mostly all about the waterfalls that I have been. They are a beauty. That is just one of them.

At the end of the month, I'll be back to the Island of Siquijor for the ReCon (Regional Conference) 2012. I'm super excited to be going back, and I can't wait for another spirit-filled getaway.

Lastly:

It's also my birth month. I'm excited to post my celebration here....hooray! I'm always excited of me having a reason to celebrate, but the though of getting old is still unsolicited....hehe Anyhow, I'm still thankful I reached this far...hehe

It would be a month long celebration of life and love for me this August. I hope your August goes well too...xoxo!

Ocean24: A Sendong aftermath

Beneath every bad circumstance comes a blessing in disguise. This goes the same with Ocean24. This hot spring resort came to life after the typhoon Sendong. After the huge flood- I must tell you by the way that this area is the most affected barangay- a piece of land was formed. Right there and then the owner turned the area into a tourist destination...genius!, which is perfectly located at Caidiocan, Valencia. This resort is just a few steps away from a geothermal plant. SFC Dumaguete decided to have a fellowhip- I suggested this resort, and I am utmost happy they considered....:) Let me share some photos.

Going there is an eye-filled experience. You need to take a jeepney by the way if you don't have a motorcycle or car. It would only cost you P20. Before arriving to this resort, you'll get to see the huuuuge rocks that were drifted by the flood. The main river is just so beautiful. You  got to see a sulfur vent along the way- you need to cover your nose, it doesn't smell that good...hehe You also get to see a mini waterfalls. I'll have that all posted on my next blog....:)

The SFC Dumaguete Chapter.
This is how cool the place is. It is like a resort in the middle of a rain forest.

They have a pool for the little ones.
Their pool is actually flowing. The water that comes out of it goes here. These are man-made Tilapia pond.
They have an entrance fee of P30. Their cottages are big enough for the whole family, and they have super cool names. See.

Their rubber chairs are recycled tires which is innovative, creative, and eco-friendly, right?...hehe

Their cottages are named after an expensive brand. This one is Gucci.

So enough of those. Let us see how we spell F-U-N!

Oh my! They have a lot of working out to do...haha

Ready...no over ready!

This I think is the 4th attempt to get a jump shot. My nose are complaining already!...We actually gave up...hehe

This resort is somehow a representation of hope. It made me think that there is still goodness in every bad happening, and that there is a purpose for everything. When all seems to be impossible, the only thing you can hold on is hope. Thinking positive that is!...xoxo!

Photo of the day:

Thanks so much to my photographer, Joeny...:)

Let's fly Tierra Alta!

I think I have always blogged about me having so much fun on the beach or in water. Now this time, let me take you to heights as I took my first zipline ride at Tierra Alta. We had this one day team building- you know how it is in the call center. We have all sorts of team building....hehe, and we thought lets do something unusual. Let's go up in the mountain and experience the rush, and so we decided to take the zipline challenge. It was awesome but terrifying as well....hehe The land is actually a subdivision intended for high-end residents who wishes to get out of the busy city lights, but the place has this gorgeous cliff on the far end of the lot so they turned that side of the subdivision into an adventure park. Genius! Let me take you for a ride...:)

The landing zone.

There is the tower. It is too far...hehe but I like the view of it from up here. We climbed their tower to see the full mountain view. It was worth the dizziness...hehe

I always thought I don't have that fear of heights, because I thought I can manage it...hehe I was a bit surprised when I actually felt so scared climbing the tower where you are to be board. My nerves are actually shaking...hehe but somehow deep within me, I need to get over it. I can't let it spoil the fun...hehe

Meet the people behind every metrics hit...:)

My gurls...love them!...hehe
We need to sign those waivers first..I object!...kidding...hehe
Do I have a choice here?...hahaha
Let us get this thing started. I am so excited after I signed the waiver. I actually did not read through it. I know I can make it...I mean, that's the spirit!...go go go! Let's ride the cart...hehe

Go Tito Albert!

Pretty Val!

Hey! That's me...hehe so proud of my self...hehe

yeah!

Job well done dad!

I know you can fly...hehe

This is how to pose for cuteness even up in the air...hehe

Was it successful?...Val says "Oh yeah"!
Since we went there early and finished ahead of time. There is still lot to see. What to do next? Took photos of our selves...hehe..We are so not nars...:)

My first zipline ride was a blast! Beating and overcoming that fear of heights is an achievement...hehe I was like...yeah! the whole time I was up in the air. This getaway is also made possible because I have my closest friends with me. You know, sometimes a brave heart comes from an assuring eye of a friend. What more if you have friends...get the picture?..:) Now, I'm thinking, I'm ready for any up-in-the-air rides..so bring it!...xoxo!
